T,
originally referred to as Longleaf Pine,
spread vastly across the southeastern United
States for centuries prior to European colonization.
Its forests long, tall, dense and uncut
until western expansion, blanketed 90 million
acres from Virginia to Eastern Texas. The
trees provided a complex ecosystem for a
wide variety of plants and animals until
mass harvesting took place in the 18th and
19th centuries. Harvesting ceased in the
1930's, with fewer than 10,000 acres of
the old growth trees still standing.
Heart
Pine possesses traits unlike any other pine
tree. It is strong as steel for its weight,
durable yet elegant with radiant tones of
burgundy and maroon. Its unique grain
pattern that varies from sporadic to pinstriped,
is unmatched by any other wood. George Washington
used Heart Pine to build his home, and the
U.S. Navy constructed some 40,000 wooden
craft out of it during WWII. Early plantation
homes favored Heart Pine because of its
unparalleled ability to resist decay and
insect damage. Only Heart Pine, with its
unique history and characteristics, can
provide your home with unsurpassed beauty
and brilliance.
We at Texas Heart Pine
believe this once plentiful resource to
be one of the few natural treasures everyone
should enjoy today. That is why we reclaim
old buildings that were built centuries
ago. These structures were framed solely
with Heart Pine beams. Our inventory consists
of beams ranging from 8x8 to 10x24 to 14x18,
and can exceed 25 in length. We can
fill any order you need. We also custom
mill Heart Pine for flooring and cabinets,
providing you with any dimension you desire.
Texas Heart Pine is the
largest of its kind west of the Mississippi.
We have a constant source of a million board
feet of beams. So we can sell at a reasonable
rate to the consumer. Come by for a look
at our massive
inventory of Heart Pine beams. We are
located on IH-35
just south of San Marcos across from the
Tanger Outlet Center. Exit Centerpoint,
go south on the access road ¼ mile.
We are on the right.
